Anyone Have Problems With “doggy Stains” In Carpet? Any Great Way To Get Them Out?
Really hoping I can get some help on this one. My rescue girl, no matter how hard I try, still doesn’t have the housetraining thing down (she’s over a year old and I have had her for four months now). I’m not giving up, still working hard, but her urine stains on the carpet are getting pretty noticeable.
I need advice on a good cleaner. I currently have Bissell Pet Stain Remover foam (it has a brush on the head), but it’s really not doing the trick. I’m desperate here. Anyone help me out?
Also have the Pet Fresh stuff from Arm-n-Hammer that your sprinkle on the carpet and vacuum up to keep the carpet smelling fresh…anything better than that? Febreeze only seems to mask it.
Any and all advice would be hugely appreciated. Thank you so much!

I use vinegar with just a tiny tiny bit of water. Make sure you soak up all the urine first of course. Vinegar neutralizes the smell and the dog usually won’t go in that spot again. dogs and puppies are attracted to the amonia smell,so they will or could pee in that same spot over and over. Most cleaning products contain amonia, therefore getting rid of the smell until the dog pee’s there again.
So I’d try vinegar its gets the smell and stain out if used in time. That’s what i’ve been using and it works wonders for me.
hi,i have rescued alot of furbabies in the past and they tend to go back to the same areas, also.I checked with Petsmart and Petco(petsupplies) they carry 2 things that have an enzyme in them that neutralize the ordor,Nature’s Miracle, and Simple Solution. They both wok great,if you follow the directions.Good luck.Debby
Try Simple Solution or Nature’s Miracle. Both are enzyme based. Follow the directions and retreat if needed.
Work on the toilet training, though. Try to limit her access to water if she’s having problems. Water 3x a day, morning noon and dinner time, and take her outside to pee at scheduled times. Check with your vet to see how much water she needs. Give her a treat when she goes outside.
Honestly I don’t have an answer, but I have the same problem. I’m going to try a carpet cleaner, or maybe a steam cleaner, maybe you can too??
Spot Shot (it’s in a blue can with orange lid) is the most wonderful stuff. We use it on all of our doggy stains and it works 95% of the time.
nature’s miracle really worked for me! Also for a quick fix to eliminate some odor, you can put a dryer sheet behind your fan so that the air sucked in goes through it and it gives that “fresh scent” wafting through the house. Obviously, this isn’t a permanent fix, but its a nice trick to use if you have guests coming over and you want to hide the doggy smell for a few hours =]
